Christmas Illumination at Marunouchi

Marunouchi has concisely set up impressive Christmas illuminations, for the last few years. However, due perhaps to the economic recession, this year the illumination has been strikingly scaled down.

To compensate, buildings in the area have set up illumination on their plazas and squares as in the newly constructed ‘Marunouchi brick square’.

Nearby bulding the ‘Marunouchi plaza’ has set up a nice decoration, notice how the meijiseimei building, designated as important cultural asset, has been nicely integrated into the background.

It may be scaled down... but it still looks wonderful. I suppose the economic gloom must still be affecting Japan quite badly. Hopefully the new year will bring an upturn.

It must also be getting quite chilly there at the moment however. Keep warm!

Yes, effects of the economy are very visible, hopefully next year will be better.

The weather is quite unstable, we have a few days of very cold days followed by warm ones, at least rainy days are over.
